I subscribe to the blog and it is so neat to see all of these postcards with secrets on them. for some individuals these are notes of unrequited love, and others that are afraid to make a bold statement. I have yet to find a hard copy in a bookstore but I hope to pick up a copy and find someone else’s secret in it.

The main philanthropy for PostSecret is suicide prevention and I really do appreciate how this project has turned global and allowed for so many people to relate to one another through a postcard. It just goes to show that there are individuals and organizations alike that are doing their part to help a stranger.

We are all guilty of this sometimes and it happens because it is a part of life. We are taught to make an attempt to do our best – but what if sometimes that is hard for you to do? Then what do you do? It is okay for you to take a break but it is not okay when you are compromising who you are and what you have set out to do. I know it is easier said than done – but try to make your own ‘sometimes’ list and you will see how much more you have to give to this world, but more importantly, to yourself.

Sometimes I feel like I’m on top of the world.
Nothing is impossible.

Sometimes it feels like everything is out to get me.
Nothing goes right.

Sometimes I hurt the ones I love.
Only to regret it later.

Sometimes I’ll help people wanting nothing in return.
Often when I have an abundance of happiness.

With nobody to disturb me.

They are among the most important things in the world.

Trust me I know this all to well. I feel that when I do come to terms with what I really want and put it out in the universe — things seem to feel like they are going the opposite way. It is natural, but don’t lose hope or faith in yourself. If you cannot believe in yourself then you cannot expect others to follow suit either. So take a moment and clear the air for you – don’t listen to others it will only make it harder for you. Take a deep breath and focus on what your heart is telling you. You cannot go wrong with that. ☺

There are many organizations out there that are also doing their part. I know that these two organizations are in need for medical assistance for the doctor’s who are working around the clock to save lives with limited supplies.

Hope is what keeps us alive and together. It is unique in its own way. It also keeps us afloat amongst the many everyday challenges in our lives. Whether they are small or large issues that take time – but you get there. I know that if I have enough hope that I will have the ability to withstand the trials that may come my way. 2009 was an intense year filled with once in a lifetime milestones in each of our lives. It was also filled with many events that have changed many of our lives – some for the better others are not so fortunate. The one message that I hope we all carry with us is one of change and paying it forward. I hope that I can help others by serving as a voice for those who do not have one.

We all have goals that we set for ourselves but what about goals to help others? This year if you are not one to stick to your resolutions than make a list of goals that you want for yourself. They can be either short-term or long-term goals, but something that is realistic and motivating.

2009 is one year that has had many opportunities, struggles, and self-realizations for me. I learned that who you may believe is your closest friend could turn out to be a fluke. I learned that life is full of abundant surprises and that I can get through anything if I put my mind to it.

So with that noted this is the end of 2009 – where we can look back in all of its glory. Hope that things are going to get better because they have too. It is the way it works. ☺ I believe that this year has come to an end but the new year will be filled with many lessons to be learned – to make us a bit more humble and appreciative of what we have. My wish for my readers is that look forward to 2010, because it will be great to see what is to happen.

I wanted to share with you a story of someone who did not believe in giving up in light of difficult times. Many of you may have been paying attention to the Goldman Case but it has been one that I have been following for quite sometime now. I am so proud of the many individuals that have stood behind Mr. Goldman and the long fight for his son. This year an international custody battle of a son who was separated from his father has become a holiday miracle. Mr. Goldman and his son were reunited and both are safe and sound back at home – in the United States.

My words won’t do his story justice but I do believe in miracles. ☺

I have been fortunate to have such amazing people in my life. There have been some that have left a footprint in my life, which will remain with me for the rest of my life. Then there are some secrets that I still hold for those who are no longer in my life.
The thing about secrets is that some people may use it against them for their own benefit. I believe that secrets are what keeps some people together and other apart.

I have a former friend whom I believed would be by my side throughout our phases in life. Perhaps time or selfish motives changed everything. In the time that we were friends we shared many memories and secrets. Of course, was I thoroughly disappointed and hurt when I was brutally ignored and put aside in the most crucial time for a friendship? Absolutely.

Someone else in my position would have likely been one to confront and put the matter to rest. I however, feel that by just letting go and realizing that I did nothing wrong helps me to work through what happened. I realize that it takes the other person’s effort to make things right. My tendency is to forgive and embrace a friendship – but this time around the likelihood is that it will take me a little longer.

We shared many secrets and those I will keep with me, as it is not my right to reveal them. in friendships, you have to realize that when things do not go right we can put our best foot forward and that is usually enough. Remember, it takes two people to make any relationship work.
